Blephasteam^® is designed to deliver in standardised conditions a latent moist heat therapy to melt meibomian secretions with a real efficacy in only 10 minutes. This dual action unblocks naturally the meibomian glands (glands inside the eyelids and responsible of lipid production). As a result, the quality of tears is greatly improved, which provides a better comfort, vision, and ocular health.

The principal effect is to improve the thickness and quality of the lipid layer of the tear film thus enhancing tear function. The lipid layer of the tear film is derived from the Meibomian glands of the eyelids, which can often be blocked producing conditions such as dry eye syndrome.
